Happy New Year from Sweden!

How can one celebrate New Year in Sweden without ABBA?
The song "Happy New Year" is featured on the group's 1980 album Super Trouper, but the song originally had the much more creative working title "Daddy Don't Get Drunk on Christmas Day". I wonder why they dropped that name.
Did I mention that every woman with Swedish ancestors can sing like Agnetha Fältskog? It's because of some gene mutation, according to a magazine I read once.

Well. Soon we enter an entirely new decade of films, which Tim Burton starts off in a (hopefully) spectacular manner with Alice in Wonderland (Swedish premiere March 12th). No one can stop me - I will see it at the theater! I mean, Stephen Fry is the friggin' Cheshire Cat.

Happy New Year everyone!

Mia Wasikowska as Alice.

Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen.

Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter.

Anne Hathaway as The White Queen.

Happy New Year to you, Lolita!

BTW, I'd never heard a song by ABBA until 1995 or so and I was 24 then. It turned out that I had heard a cover version of one of their tunes by a late-80s group called "Information Socity" but it wasn't until the mid-1990s when I heard an actual ABBA-performed song.

I was a great ABBA fan when I was about 12 years old, and I still love them. (Although I know all their hits from heart, and it can get a bit repetitive...) The harmony of their combined voices in that refrain gives me goose bumps!

Getsby:
Same to you, daahlin'!

Tom:
The best New Years song ever! (There aren't as many of those as Christmas songs, right?) Skål!

Trixie:
I have too high hopes for it! But Tim Burton is one that actually manages to deliver and please people's high expectations ever so often! Happy New Years ;)

I'm not a big fan of Tim Burton but Alice maybe will make me change my mind.

The trailer was epic, there's Johnny Depp, perfect as usual... Looking forward to watch it in a 3D theater.

Are they going to show Alice in 3D?! I'll have to go to Stockholm and see it then!
I love Tim Burton. All movies aren't 100%, but most have that wonderful dreamlike feeling that feels like a tribute to that time when movies always was supposed to be an experience where one could travel to another world for a couple of hours.

Kate G:
Happy New Years, honey pie!

Lolita: Happy New Year and have a great New Years Eve! Here in the states, it's often a great night or one you can never live down! From this point forward, I will imagine you speaking in a voice as pretty as Agneth Faltskog's! -- Mykal

May your New Year be as joyous as ABBA music (you know, like in "Mama Mia"...not a sad song like "SOS").
